Dr. Meghan MitchellMeghan Thomas Mitchell, MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist. She graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a degree in Engineering. Dr. Mitchell served in the Navy teaching the basics of reactor physics to sailors. She then pursued her lifelong dream of a career in medicine. Returning to her hometown of Chapel Hill, NC, she earned her M.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell completed her dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she and her family moved to the metro area, where she initially practiced with a local dermatology group before starting Rock Creek Dermatology. Dr. Mitchell considers herself fortunate to have her own practice where she can provide excellent, compassionate dermatology care for the community. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell shuttles kids to sports practices, enjoys audiobooks and cooking. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Meghan Mitchell sees patients at both the Silver Spring and Urbana locations.

Joan PohutskyJoan Pohutsky, DNP, APRN, NP-BC is a board-certified nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated with honors from Rush University in Chicago, IL, earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice. Her practicums were completed in hematology/oncology and her residency in dermatology and primary care.

Joan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago, graduating with honors. Her nursing residency was completed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD where she worked in the surgical intensive care unit. She then began her graduate studies while simultaneously working in the surgical and cardiovascular thoracic intensive care unit at Rush University Medical Center, later transitioning to lead surgical nurse for the hospital’s Mohs surgeon. She practiced as a dermatology nurse practitioner at Rush University Medical Center before joining Anne Arundel Dermatology’s Rock Creek/Silver Spring practice.

Joan is active in the Dermatology Nurses Association as President of the Wisconsin/Illinois Chapter, a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Order of Omega honor societies, and member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics where she has completed training in a variety of cosmetic procedures.

While Joan offers a variety of dermatologic services, she is most passionate about preventative health care and creating individualized care plans for her patients to make them look and feel their best. When not in clinic, she enjoys traveling, concerts, and hanging out with her foster dog fail turned rescue dog adoptee, Rusty.
