Meghan Thomas Mitchell, MD, FAAD is a board certified dermatologist. She graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a degree in Engineering. Dr. Mitchell served in the Navy teaching the basics of reactor physics to sailors. She then pursued her lifelong dream of a career in medicine. Returning to her hometown of Chapel Hill, NC, she earned her M.D. at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell completed her dermatology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she and her family moved to the metro area, where she initially practiced with a local dermatology group before starting Rock Creek Dermatology. Dr. Mitchell considers herself fortunate to have her own practice where she can provide excellent, compassionate dermatology care for the community. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell shuttles kids to sports practices, enjoys audiobooks and cooking. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Meghan Mitchell sees patients at both the Silver Spring and Urbana locations.
Maria G. Sotomayor, MD is a board certified dermatologist by the American Board of Physician Specialties. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders in adults, adolescents and pediatrics as well as in cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Sotomayor earned her medical degree from Federico Villarreal National University in Lima, Peru. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine, residency in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine where she served as a Chief Resident in Academics. Dr. Sotomayor moved to the DC area after ten years of private practice in Tampa, Florida. She joined Anne Arundel Dermatology after three and a half years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at George Washington University. Dr. Sotomayor is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Florida West Coast Dermatology Society. She is also bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Sotomayor sees patients at the Silver Spring office.
Mary Kim, MD pursued her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University with a major in international studies and a minor in Spanish. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. During medical school, she spent a year in Milwaukee, WI performing clinical pediatric dermatology research at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Kim completed her pediatric internship, dermatology residency, and pediatric dermatology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Kim has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters in publications such as Pediatrics, the Journal of Pediatrics, Nelson Essentials of Pediatrics, Pediatric Dermatology, JAMA Dermatology, and the British Journal of Dermatology. Her medical areas of interest include infantile hemangiomas, atopic dermatitis/eczema, moles, birthmarks, acne, warts, molluscum, psoriasis, genetic skin conditions, vitiligo, skin infections, and skin cancer/tumors. Dr. Kim is a board certified dermatologist and a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and values the opportunity to provide care for the whole family. Dr. Kim sees patients our Urbana office.
